The trouble with ordinary coops

Most coops are built to fail in this climate.

Rain, salt air, and relentless sun destroy the usual materials. So we started over with one that doesn't care.

Wood

Soaks up rain and rots. Splinters. Harbors mites and mold in every joint. Needs sealing, patching, and eventually replacing.

Metal & wire

Rusts — fast in salt air. Sharp cut edges. Bakes in direct sun and bends out of shape over a season or two.

Chicken's Shack

One-piece LLDPE. Non-porous, so mites and mold get no foothold. UV-stabilized. Rinses clean in seconds. Won't rust or rot — ever.

The build

One shell.
No weak points.

The whole coop is formed as one continuous wall of rotomolded LLDPE. Extra lip, extra legs, and an inside rack are part of the mold — nothing to tighten, nothing to corrode.
